Making sure you have the right gear

Packing for hiking

Hiking is one of the best ways to connect with nature, clear your mind, and recharge your soul. Whether you’re heading out for a gentle countryside stroll or tackling a challenging hike on one of our retreats, it’s important that you’re properly prepared with the right hiking gear. Unpredictable weather can strike at any moment, especially in the UK, so pack wisely. Choose sturdy hiking boots with good ankle support, a lightweight waterproof jacket that can be easily packed away, and a comfortable rucksack with a built-in rain cover.

And… breathe. When it comes to yoga, comfort and flexibility are key. Having the right clothing and accessories mean you can fully focus on your breath, balance, and inner peace. Choose moisture-wicking activewear with added stretch, designed to move with your body as you flow through every pose. Pack a yoga mat with good grip, and bring an easy-to-carry bag for any yoga blocks, straps, or towels you might need. Don’t forget a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout your practice.

Don't forget your bathing costume

Packing for wild swimming

From rivers, lakes, and seas to lochs and reservoirs, a bit of wild swimming offers an invigorating way to immerse yourself in Mother Nature. Depending on the water temperature, location, and your personal comfort level, we recommend wearing a swimsuit or a wetsuit to help retain body heat. Keep your extremities warm with neoprene accessories like gloves, boots, or socks, which can also protect your hands and feet from sharp rocks. In the colder seasons, a simple knitted hat can make a surprising difference. Once you’re out of the water, warm up quickly with a sherpa-lined dry robe, absorbent towel, and even a hot water bottle.
