Coln Saint Aldwyns to Bibury and The Swan Hotel, Bibury

This circular route takes you from the charming village of Coln Saint Aldwyns, along the picturesque River Coln and on to the iconic Bibury, before returning through fields with photo-worthy panoramic views.

It’s worth taking some time to explore the villages of Coln Saint Aldwyns and Bibury: in Coln Saint Aldwyns, visit the historic church of St. John the Baptist, known for its stained glass windows, and the Williamstrip Estate, which owns much of the surrounding land.

Next, make your way to Bibury, where you can see St. Mary’s Church, an 11th-century Grade I listed building, and Arlington Row, frequently used as a filming location. The trail itself is relatively easy-going, with a few short but steep ascents and descents, making it accessible for most walkers.

Depending on the season, the trail along the River Coln can get muddy, so be sure to wear comfortable boots or wellies. There are lots of inviting pubs in Bibury, including The Swan Hotel, where you can enjoy a well-earned rest and some tasty food.
