Fairford River and The Bull Hotel, Fairford

This scenic circular trail near Fairford, a Gloucestershire town known for its water mills during medieval times, offers a peaceful escape into nature for an hour or so. It’s unlikely you’ll encounter many other people along this route, so you can relax and fully immerse yourself in the surroundings as you journey along the river and past tranquil water pools.

The lake here is a great place for bird watching, especially for spotting species like kingfishers and swans, so it’s a good idea to have some binoculars to hand. It’s worth noting that this route is prone to flooding, particularly after heavy rainfall, so it’s best to avoid it in wet conditions.

As always, check for posted signage and follow any instructions to ensure you can enjoy a safe walk. Back in town, The Bull Hotel is open daily for lunch and dinner, the perfect place to relax and refuel before exploring more of Fairford or heading home.
