After crossing, continue along the trail to Lover’s Leap, a dramatic cliff with sweeping views of the river below. The spot is steeped in legend, with stories of lovers leaping to their deaths from the cliff. Follow the path towards Jacob’s Ladder, a steep stone staircase leading up the hillside. The climb is a bit of a challenge but once at the top, you’ll be rewarded with expansive views over the valley and surrounding hills.

From here, continue towards Reynard’s Arch, a natural limestone arch. Marvel at the striking rock formation before heading on to Reynard Cave, where you can explore the hidden depths of this fascinating feature. Next, make your way to Loam Rock, another rocky outcrop offering spectacular views before reaching Dove Holes, a series of caves and rock formations tucked into the hillside. There’s also Raven’s Tor, a towering rock face with panoramic views of the surrounding valley.

Descend towards Milldale, a pretty hamlet nestled alongside the river, where you can continue onto The George Inn for a bite to eat and a well-deserved break, or loop back to the Bailey Hill area, where you’ll head towards the car park.
