Bourton-on-the-Water and The Porch House, Stow-on-the-Wold 

This popular Cotswold hiking route attracts hikers, runners, and walkers, so expect to share the path with fellow outdoor enthusiasts, especially during peak times. The trail is open year-round and offers stunning views in every season, so it’s a good one to explore at different times of the year. 

After setting off from the car park, you’ll soon cross Greystones Nature Reserve, a haven for local wildlife with several archaeological sites to explore. From here, the path winds through picturesque farmlands and alongside the River Eye as you make your way toward the charming market town of Stow-on-the-Wold. 

Stop off at The Porch House in Stow-on-the-Wold with its hearty menu and warm atmosphere. If you have the time, it’s worth pottering around the streets and shops here before rejoining the trail, passing through more farmland, an equestrian centre, and the peaceful village of Lower Slaughter, known for its quaint stone cottages. 

Finally, the route loops back toward Bourton-on-the-Water, where the trail began.
