Curbar Edge and The Bridge Inn, Calver

The trail begins at the Curbar Gap car park, a convenient starting point with ample parking. Head west from here, following paths that climb gently to the top of Curbar Edge. Along this stretch, enjoy excellent views of the surrounding valleys and the village of Curbar below. 

The distinctive gritstone outcrops and rugged landscapes make for the perfect photo opportunity. As you continue, the route transitions onto Baslow Edge, where you’ll find more impressive rock formations and expansive views of the Derbyshire countryside. The trail follows well-marked paths across the moorland, with sections of rocky terrain that require careful footing. 

At the far end of Baslow Edge, you’ll descend towards the village of Baslow, passing through farmland and returning back to the car park. The trail involves a combination of well-maintained paths, grassy fields and some rocky sections, making it a varied and rewarding hike overall. 

When you get back to Curber Gap, make your way to The Bridge Inn, where you can complete this circular route with a hot and hearty meal.

  • Curbar Edge’s Dramatic Gritstone Crags: Walk along the edge of Curbar Edge, a striking gritstone escarpment with dramatic cliffs and outcrops. The jagged rocks offer fantastic opportunities for photography and give the hike a sense of wild adventure
  • Diverse Moorland: The trail takes you through beautiful moorland, with heather, grasses and bracken
